Take a scenic flight in a fully restored Tiger Moth, a very robust, reliable and strong aircraft that evolved from the Gipsy Moth. At the outbreak of WWII, the Tiger Moth was the basic trainer for all airmen in the Commonwealth and the last biplane trainer used by the RAAF.

You'll begin your journey with an introduction to this marvellous aircraft and a safety briefing before taking to the sky for a 45-minute joy flight around the Redcliffe coast.

Your flight takes you back to the by-gone years with everything from the smell, the sound and the classic seating to put you in the classic years of aviation.

There are even flight goggles and leather flight suit.  Oh, what a picture!  Get ready Biggles.

With a full 45-minutes spend in the air; your flight takes in the sights of Beachmere before passing around the Glasshouse Mountains and back to Redcliffe.

Flying can be affected by poor weather. If you are in doubt that the flight will take place, you can call the operator the morning of your flight to check it will go ahead.

You will be in the air for approximately 45 minutes.

This experience is available on weekends only all year round subject to prevailing weather conditions.

Valid for one person. There will be just you and your pilot in the Tiger Moth.

If you have long hair, you'll need something to tie it back with.

Minimum age is 6. Max weight 130kg. If you fit into a standard car seat you should be comfortable in the cockpit. Unsuitable for pregnant women or anyone unable to climb into the open cockpit. If you have a medical condition please check with your doctor first.

CASA Regulation for booking adventure flights

Military aircraft are built and tested to different standards than that put forward by CASA or any equivalent international civil aviation governing body. As such, in accordance with Civil Aviation Safety Regulation Parts 132.140, 132.150 and 132.155;

  • The design, manufacture and airworthiness of the aircraft are not required to meet any standard recognised by CASA; and
  • CASA does not require the aircraft to be operated to the same degree of safety as an aircraft used for regular public transport or charter operations; and
  • The passenger agrees to participate in this flight at his or her own risk; and
  • If it is reasonable to believe that a passenger cannot understand the safety briefing; said passenger must be accompanied on the flight by a parent, guardian, or carer; and
  • A detailed briefing will be provided to the passenger before they board the aircraft. This will include signing a liability waiver and acknowledgment of the briefing. If the passenger is under 18 years of age the waiver and acknowledgment must be signed by a parent, or legal guardian.

The operators were very friendly and helpful and the flight was as I expected. The inability to communicate with the pilot whilst in the air resulted in my being a dumb passenger. Having previous flying experience in similar but closed cockpit aircraft I would have liked to have experienced some of the more exciting abilities of the Tiger Moth short of aerobatics which I understand they shy away from.

Really enjoyed my flight, I would recomend it
