On the west side of Melbourne, the air feels crisp as you stroll toward the aircraft hangar. Inside a Tiger Moth coloured with post-war grey and RAAF symbols reminds you of its history.
You feel a sense of nostalgia as you are fitted with a Biggles-style flight jacket, headset and goggles.
Your pilot, an international airline captain, briefs you, and you jump onto the Tiger Moth's wing and into the plane's front seat.
Soon, the prop swings into action, and with that great sound of the engine, your pilot makes the final preparations for taking off. Then, with clearance from air traffic control, it's chocks away, chaps!
Once airborne, your pilot gains altitude and flies over the changing landscape below. With views for much of the way, you can pick out areas worth visiting later.
The feeling of an open cockpit and the wind in your hair takes you back into the bygone era of flying aces and legendary aircraft. Perhaps it's time to reminisce or find what it was like.
Allow one hour with60 minutes in the aircraft from engine start to engine stop.
This experience is available all year round but subject to prevailing weather conditions.
