The Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary and Puffing Billy are two of Victoria’s must see attractions.  Situated to the east of Melbourne they offer a truly unique experience that people return to time and time again.

On this guided tour, we’ll pick you up from Melbourne CBD and arrive at the Kalatha Giant Mountain Ash, an exceptionally tall tree that’s nestled in the Toolangi Forest.  It’s 300 years old and stands 70 metres tall – a true giant of the area.

Next you move onto the Wirrawilla Rainforest for a half hour walk.  The walk takes in this cool climate rainforest which is dominated by the Myrtle Beech and Sassafras that teem with life.

Afterwards, it’s onto the Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary set in 30 hectares of distinctly Australian natural bush.  The Wildlife Sanctuary offers one of the best ways to get up-close with Koalas, Kangaroos, Platypus, Wombats and the tall Emus.

Leaving the Sanctuary behind, it’s time to join the Puffing Billy steam train for an hours ride through the forests and villages of the Dandenongs from Lakeside to Belgrave.  One of the highlights is crossing the famous timber trestle bridge which stands 13m high and has a span of over 90m.

Tours are affected by the weather and may be rescheduled in extreme weather or poor conditions.

The tour departs at 7:30am and you return at approximately 6pm.

Valid for one person.  The tour is conducted in small groups.

Lunch is provided on the tour.  The tour includes all National Park Entry Fees.  Pick up is from your Melbourne CBD accommodation or from St Paul’s Cathedral opposite Flinders Street Station.

Whilst none of the walks are difficult you should have a general good fitness level.
