Situated just 60 minutes east of Melbourne, two of Victoria’s must see attractions await.  The Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary and Puffing Billy offer a truly unique experience that cannot be missed.

You begin your tour with a comfortable 60 minute drive out to the Dandenongs.  First stop is the Kalatha Giant Mountain Ash, a remarkably tall tree that is over 300 years old.  It’s nestled in the Toolangi Forest and stands 70 metres tall.  Try to put your arms around it if you can – it’s a true giant.

After a tree hug, there’s a short half hour walk amongst the Wirrawilla Rainforest.  The forest is a cool climate rainforest that’s dominated by Myrtle Beech and Sassafras.  You’ll find every tree is covered in a moss that’s teeming with life.

One of the highlights of the tour is the Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary.  Set in 30 hectares of distinctly Australian natural bush, it enables you to get up really close to Koalas, Kangaroos, Platypus, Wombats and the fun Emus.

Leaving the Sanctuary behind, you join up with Puffing Billy.  Puffing Billy is a steam train that you can sit on with your legs dangling outside.  It takes you on an hours ride through the forests and villages of the Dandenongs from Lakeside right through to Belgrave.  It’s a fantastic journey and a great way to end your tour of the Dandenongs before returning back to Melbourne.

Tours are affected by the weather and may be rescheduled in extreme weather or poor conditions.

The tour departs at 7:30am and you return at approximately 6pm.
