When you turn up at the parachute centre, you'll commence your experience with a briefing. Your tandem instructor walks you through what to expect once you board the airplane, what you will see before you jump and what to prepare for through the free-fall.
With our tandem instructors all members of the Australian Parachute Federation there's every reason to feel comfortable knowing you are in good hands.
After your briefing, you're driven out to the Sunshine Coast Airport. At the airport, suit up with a jumpsuit and harness and feel the part. Your instructor will perform a complete gear check including the parachute, the back-up parachute and the automatic opening device.
Once suited, you are taken to the plane where you practice some exits. You'll develop some comfort as you start to appreciate how the process works. Finally, with the adrenalin flowing, you'll board the plane and head into the sky.
As you depart the airport, you'll relish a scenic tour of the Sunshine Coast. As soon as the plane has reached right altitude, it's time to prepare for your jump. As you exit the plane, you'll free-fall for approximately a minute - screaming tends to be a good diversion at this point as you experience the full on adrenalin that only skydiving can offer. Freefalling at over 220 km/h is unbeatable. Once the screaming has subsided, the views are really something else. You'll see stunning visuals south to Maroochydore and Moreton Island, and north to Sunshine Beach and Noosa plus lots more. At 5000ft your chute will open and you'll safely glide through the air, as you head toward a safe landing back on Earth.
