  • Experience a 20-minute flight over the Yarra Valley region
  • Pratt and Whitney Wasp Junior 9-cylinder radial engine
  • 20 minutes of pure joy you will never forget

Built by the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation, this 1950s aircraft has its name derived from the aboriginal word meaning ‘young eagle’.

And how apt that is because the Royal Australian Air Force used the plane as a primary trainer for recruits and as a Forward Air Control aircraft.

It’s a 3-seater, so it can take two passengers plus the pilot, just as long as the total weight is kept within limits, else it won’t get off the ground!

You take off in the Winjeel from Lilydale Airport where you’re treated to some fantastic views over the Yarra Glen, Healesville, the Yarra River and Sugarloaf Reservoir.

The Pratt and Whitney Wasp Junior 9-cylinder radial engine can push this fixed-wing Winjeel CA-25 right up to 290 km/h with a cruise speed of 265km/h.  And with 20 minutes in the air, that’s plenty of air to cover.

Upon landing, take some pictures and celebrate alongside a Victorian-built aircraft.  It’s a flight of nostalgia not to miss.
