Why we love Rally Driving

In a word: total awesomeness! Okay, that's two words...but the truth is you could fill this whole page with the number of adjectives to describe the great thrills that are unique to rally driving. It takes real skill to whip a rally car around the corners off-road. Think ahead, turn very early, steer into the corner and accelerate away down the straight.

What to Expect

Your experience begins with a welcome and introductory briefing, including some of the basic rally driving techniques that will not only help keep you safe but also ensure you get the most from your time behind the wheel of our WRX STI, Holden Ute's and Evo 8's. You'll learn all about the track. How to whip the car at speed into a corner with full sideways action. Get to race away down the straight and how to nail those corner exits. You'll be amazed by the responsive handling. You'll be blown away by the incredible power. Then to cap it all off, many of the rally experiences will see your instructor taking to the wheel with you as the passenger. You'll experience the thrill of rally car racing for some burning hot laps. Phew! Talk about senses in overdrive. This will get you buzzing.

What Skills are required for Rally Driving

Rally driving requires a unique set of skills, as the experiences take place on various surfaces and terrain, and the conditions can change rapidly. Here are some of the critical skills that a rally driver should have.

Car Control. A rally driver must have excellent car control skills and be able to navigate the course quickly and safely. This requires a deep understanding of the car's handling characteristics and the ability to make split-second decisions.

Concentration. Rally driving is an intense sport that requires drivers to remain focused for extended periods. Drivers must stay alert and react quickly to changing conditions on the course.

Coordination. Rally drivers need to be able to work closely with their co-driver and navigate through the rally stage according to the instructions given by the co-driver.

Precision. Rally drivers must be precise in their driving, as a minor mistake on the course can result in significant time loss.

Read road. Rally drivers must have a keen sense of reading the road, judging the road's camber, slope, surface and grip levels. They also need to predict and avoid potential hazards.

All in all, rally driving requires physical and mental skills and the ability to work closely with the co-driver. It's a challenging but thrilling sport, and the best drivers are highly skilled, focused, and adaptable.
