Begin your Formula Ford day learning how to operate the controls of this single-seater Zetec racing car. You'll cover the lay-back driving position, the stubby, right hand 4 speed gearshift and the non-synchromesh down-changing technique.
Then it's on to the circuit in a passenger car to learn from the instructor all the important features of the Queensland track.
After the instruction is over, it's time to enjoy the sensations of driving an open-wheel racing car for the first time, under the watchful eyes of your instructors.
Drive for 20 laps and feel what it's like to be a racing driver with the tight surround of an open cockpit, a super sensitive gearstick and the track just centemetres below.
Allow up to three hours for the entire experience.
Drives are available on selected dates throughout the year.
Valid for one person. There up to 20 people per group and up to 4 cars on the track at any one time.
You must hold a minimum of a current P Plate licence and be able to drive a manual gearbox. Bring your drivers licence on the day. You are required to sign an indemnity, waiver and liability form as a condition of participating.
You must weigh less than 120kg and be under 192cm tall. Not suitable for drivers that are pregnant. If you are concerned about the impact of high speed driving, we recommend you consult a doctor. You must have a 0 blood alcohol level.
