A bygone era of flight awaits.
This fully restored 1940s De Havilland Tiger Moth is of the type used to train pilots during the 1930s and 1940s.
Revolutionary at the time, it's a great example of a trainer plane. It's easy to fly but harder to fly well.
After an introduction to safety, prepare for your aerobatics flight by putting on the Biggles style aviation jacket, headset and goggles. You will feel like you have entered another era and possibly no different to the trainer pilots of the 1930s.
Once the prop begins spinning and the engine is up to full speed, it's chocks away chaps! Up, up and away!
At the right height, it's time for some exciting but gentle aerobatic manoeuvres from spins to loops. In between the hair raising aerobatics, they'll be time to enjoy the beautiful views of the surroundings.
Having a phobia of heights, I was hesitant at first. The (N.Z.) pilot made it more relaxing for me, and I really enjoyed the flight. I also did the aerobatics after the 45 minute flight, much to my amazement. I would recommend this flight to anyone (even those who fear flying like myself). The staff and services are first rate, and it was great to see a different perspective of Melbourne by air.
I don't know how it could be improved or bettered, as I believe it is conducted in a most professional manner. Perhaps brown corduroy pants or waders for the first time flier? An amazing experience that took me outside my comfort zone. Thank you.
The pilot Dave was great - had great confidence in his skills.Did what it said on the tin Amazing flight.
